We are off!
Today was the first full day of school.
119 students between the ages of 11 and 14.
Temperatures were in the low 90's today, and the humidity was in the 85% range.
Wicked hot.
Outside.
Inside our nearly 100 year old building, with NO air conditioning, it was sweltering.
Death by sweat.
The forecast is for the heat to continue this week.
And next.
And then we should see a bit of a cool down.
I hope.
Until then, we just try and stay hydrated.
Suck it up, and forge forward.
Hot, hot, hot, hot!
How many of them are there in each form?
ReplyDeleteThere are 35 in 8th grade. There are 37 in 7th grade. There are 46 in 6th grade.
DeleteThat's an awful lot to manage!
DeleteThat's a hot way to spend a stressful day, or week. And did you have the conversation about deodorant with them?
ReplyDeleteI WILL do the deodorant conversation... but not this week. I like to give them a bit of time to get used to me before I launch out into that territory. :-)
DeleteHope things cool down a bit your way. My public school in Florida was the last in county to get A/C in late 1996. Remembering how uncomfortable and 'smelly' it could get after lunch.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all, back at school in the heat. Here in the UK we await a 'return to summer' for the beginning of September. Hope you have a good semester! xx
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why is the first day or week of school always the hottest day of the year? It just never fails.
ReplyDeleteHope the year is a good one...
