It is fibrous breast tissue, probably made tender and swollen by the HRT. When the doctor examined me, she was in agreement with me that it was questionable and "odd." She sent (immediately) for a diagnostic mammogram. The radiology clinic at the nearby hospital fit me in right away, and the films were read and interpreted by a doctor on site. NOTHING. No masses of any kind. Nothing at all to be concerned about.
I also had a (previously scheduled) appointment this afternoon with the sexual health specialist who is prescribing the hormone replacement therapy for me. We discussed the issues and he agreed that perhaps the breast tissue issues may be resulting from the dosages of the hormone therarpy. So, those dosages have been adjusted.
Tonight, our family is feeling relieved, almost to the point of giddiness. We've tried to think positive about this one. Still, it has been hard not to harbor a touch on nagging worry. Thank you, each and every one, for all the good thoughts and energy. You have, once again, been right there when we needed you most.
