My New Motto

I am jetisoning my previous, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." quotation by Thoreau, in favor the Asimov quote far more appropriate for my current and future reality, if future there is, "In life, unlike chess, the game contines after checkmate."

  1. It sounds like things are pretty grim right now. It might not be the best time to rethink your life. Obviiously you know your situation best. I hope things are well.

I'm sorry for the way you are feeling right now. Remember that when you are in a hole it is dark and bleak, you can see only the darkness and the smooth dark sides. You are totally unaware of the entire world of life and sunshine that waits above for you for when you are out of the abyss. There is always something, though it may not be what you had imagined. Please, dear friend, and I do not ask this lightly, make sure your doctor has seen you recently and thoroughly. If you don't like or trust him/her, get another.

I'm not sure where we, as constant followers are supposed to go here...you said earlier that you were not sharing what was happening in your lives now...as is your right...but, please don't play with us....we do very much care about you all, and postings such as this is concerning ...please,nothing at all, or let us know what is wrong....Karen

Im sorry, but I tend to agree with Karen. A lot of people would be really concerned about you all, and to have tidbits thrown at your readers like this, is tormenting and a little upsetting. Its like sitting on a cliff, and not knowing when your going to fall.
All the best and lots of love is being sent your way.

  5. First, to those of you who have sat with us through this last month; to those of you who have offered words of encouragement and support; to those who have simply waited through our silences and less than clear bits -- thank you. Your kindness has held us up.

Too, to those of you who find the lack of clarity upsetting; to those who are feeling frustrated and "played" by what has been said or not said, your feelings are completely understandable.

We've lived through the very worst month any of us could have imagined. We've been frightened, scared, and terribly hurt. We've struggled with serious mental health challenges and that has created chaos and havoc at every turn.

There has been shame (however undeserved), and that has kept us more "quiet" here than we might have been otherwise. But here, in this place, it is possible for us to write relatively freely, and that freedom can bring a sense of relief and healing. Most likely, we'll continue to use this place, OUR place, to serve our needs in resolving the current crisis. That probably isn't going to be pretty or easy to watch -- or read. If it causes you too much distress, and you choose to not look, I (and we) will understand. Really.

  7. Write what you like. Post what you want to, what you need to. If people are troubled, I'm sorry, but they need to move on. This is YOUR place. It should be about what you need, not about what suits other people.

I understand their concern, even frustration. I understand that people who care about you want clarity and simplicity for you. But life isn't always like that is it? And your blog reflects your life.

Somehow I feel fiercely protective of you all. And want to say to anyone who would say "don't toy with your readers," that if they can't handle it, they need to work it out without making it your problem. I know you didn't ask me to champion you or to beat up your other (unsuspecting) readers. Sorry. My bad.

Do what you need to do. And if telling us helps, or at least does no harm, we are here to hear it.
