T-Day Eve Tom Update

Today was a pretty good day. I got to him at 1pm on Tuesday and left today, Wednesday at 4pm. He did a couple of laps of the floor, bathed his parts, got his catheter removed, had his nasal gastric tube fall out, was re-stuck 5 times to move his IV from the crook of his arm to his hand, was upgraded to sipping water from mouth swabs, passed gas and peed like a MAN!! The last 2 things are big steps to getting him onto food and home. He still has 2 drains in his tummy and is pretty sore, but he looks much better.

In the beginning, the surgeon told me he would probably be home on Thanksgiving....I don't think so, more like Friday, me thinks....but better stay until they are confident that he will not be returning in 18 hours.

I have come home to get cleaned up, bake a Autumn Torta for my Mom, run laundry, visit Mom and get more than 3 hours of sleep. Sue is with Tom tonight and I am positive they are both very comfy together. I would have stayed, but there just is not enough room for the 3 of us to sleep in his private room...sigh....

Well, that's the scoop. As Sue said, Thanks for all of the prayers, well wishes, hugs, and animal sacrifices. They all helped!

  1. T., thank you for the update - I know you would love to be with him still, but perhaps you really NEED a good, uninteruppted night's sleep! After all, he will need his ladies strong, hale and hearty to deal with the convalescence!

    I'm glad he's getting better.

    hugs.

  2. Encouraging news indeed, thank you for letting us know.
You all remain in my thoughts and prayers, and as selkie said, you do need a good night's sleep! You need to take care of the care-giver first, for you own sake, your Mom's sake, and Tom's sake.
I'm glad that you can rest a bit easier knowing that Swan is with him tonight.

  4. I just returned from out of town and was horrified to read what has happened with Tom! The car ride sounded very, very scary. But, then, I am glad to read that he is better. Swan and T: you both have my prayers that your Master will be returned quickly and healthy. I guess I have another thing to be grateful for today! The health of your man!
    love,
