Aftermath

We've worked and worked and worked and worked, and our homes are mostly back in order this evening.  The new floors look wonderful, and with all of our things back in place there is a real glow and warmth to the places.  We are thrilled.  Here are some photos taken just this evening --

Too, He and I had the opportunity to play this afternoon -- what He insists was a matter of "breaking in" the new floors.  It was a good session and good for us both after such a long, disrupted and stressful week.  The floors are now, officially and thoroughly broken in...  So here are THOSE "aftermath" photos...

  3. The floors are lovely and so are you. I'm not sure how much I'd like a spanking bench but you look like it was worth it!

  4. Morningstar -- To answer your question: yes, I like having the spanking bench where it is. When it first arrived, I was stumped about where to put it. It is larger than I imagined it might be, and locating it in the house seemed to be just a puzzle. Too, when it first came, we were in the midst of moving lots of Master's father's things in and the places just seemed a jumble of mismatched and misplaced things. We valued them, but couldn't quite encompass the work of finding suitable locations for all of them at first. The arrival of the bench just felt like "one more thing..."
He likes it where it is because, for Him, it is more convenient during a session. For me, it just feels somehow more secure to have it in the bedroom rather than in the living room. Honestly, from my perspective, it probably doesn't matter where it is -- I don't need to find implements, or do anything more than just "get through it." However, the bedroom setting seems more private and more secluded, and that makes me feel more safe. None of that has any sort of logical / reasonable basis, but there it is.
As for being "brave," I tend to like benches better than equipment that requires me to stand up. St. Andrew's crosses are just miserable in my experience. If I can get myself settled onto a bench, I can sink in and get fully supported, and that works better for me. I do seem to have trouble with this bench when He is using a paddle. There is something about the angle it puts me in that makes a hard impact feel as if it is transmitting the percussion right up the length of my spine. Anything that jars my spine is difficult and unpleasant and scary at my "advanced age." I am finding that I can cope with that sort of play by pushing up with my arms, lifting my torso off the surface, and arching my back. If I can stay in that position, then the paddle strokes don't seem to hurt my back quite so much...
    Sheesh! Getting old just sucks!

  5. it's interesting swan (well to me anyway) i never liked spanking benches... from the first time W put me on one many years ago... i had a mini panic attack and haven't been much good on them since.

As you know i prefer standing.... so i can do my lil subbie jig... and keep my knees flexed...

And i don't know... the bit about feeling safer in the bedroom... more private.. makes perfect sense to me ..
