BDSM Research

Here's an interesting new study about those of us who lay claim to BDSM as part of our sexual/erotic expression: BDSM Study

I am glad to see that there are serious academics doing real, substantive research into this field. It means that, as time goes on, there could be increased awareness and understanding of what it is that makes "our" ways of loving special, unique, life-affirming and positive. Perhaps, in time, the availability of good, solid data will help to dispel some of the misinformation and fear that fuels predjudice against those of us who express our sexual selves through BDSM.

Very interesting study. Confirms what I expected.

Re: "BDSM people" being "deficient" or needing greater stimuli for arousal, if "non-BDSM people" only knew the heightened arousal that comes from psychological games and power play for us, they'd see the silliness of this line of reasoning. Just because sex can be made better and more intense through BDSM practices, doesn't mean it isn't great or intense without BDSM.

Anyway, nice find. Thanks for the link.

  2. I heard about this study a week or so ago and was thrilled to see affirmative empirical data that in fact people practicing BDSM are not only not "defective", but actually happier in their sexuality than the average person.

    It's about time!!!!
