Released!

Today I was released from home health care and home PT. I can bend my knee 103% and can straighten it to a 5 (0 is perfect). Two days ago I could get my knee to 97% and a 9, So I am pretty tickled with today's numbers.

I start outpatient PT on Monday, as well as visits to a local lab for Coumadin maintenance.

I am on a cane. Most people are not on canes until 4 weeks after surgery. I am at 13 days post-surgery today.

Got the staples out yesterday at the surgeon's office. As the nurse was walking me back to the exam room, she kept stopping and showing me off. Everyone is thrilled with my progress. The x-rays were perfect.

I never thought of myself as an "over achiever"....figures that Tom filled that role in our household, but I am nothing less than a hard-working woman with a huge drive to get back to "normal". Not sure what "normal" will be, but we will get there together.

On another note, tonight we meet with Hospice at Mom's house. It is time. More supports are needed. Mom is steadily requiring more and more assistance. She is on the highest level of oxygen possible in home. She is completely incontinent. She has asked for a walker to assist her movement thru' the house. We have a Living Will and Health Care POA (me) in place. We have had many months we never expected to have. Each day is a gift. But it is time to take the next step.

I'm so sorry about your mom. I know you are never prepared, never ready, just trying to do your best for her. You're doing great.

As for your new bionic self - great job, girl! In difficult times, you kept your eye on the prize and worked hard. Proud of you, and I want you on my team any day!
